The last game preview was on Grand Theft Auto4, which is scheduled to be launched on 29 April.
We were treated to the latest trailer, which I’ve seen umpteen times since its release. It only serves to remind me how painful it is to wait for another 3 weeks or so for this game. You can view the trailer here but my personal favourite is the 3rd trailer entitled “Move Up Ladies”.
I wish I could sneak out one of the huge GTA4 posters home though. More details available here.
The mini tournament was fun as it squared us off between one another through casual and easy-to-pick up games like Bomberman Live and Project Gotham Racing 4 as well as slightly hardcore one in the form of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. As mentioned earlier, we were split into four groups named Rockstar, Covenant, Ninjas and Ghosts. Ninjas took the lead that day and won themselves each a cool black GTA4 long-sleeves t-shirt. (me jealous…)
Oh well, no one left empty-handed that day. Everyone took home a nice goodie bag containing a cool sporty Xbox360 shirt with the word ‘SINGAPORE’ embroidered on the sleeve, a black ‘DRONE TO KILL’ Frontlines: Fuel of War T-shirt, a black Xbox360 wireless controller and some cool GTAIV premiums. It’s a pity the shirts were sized ‘M’ because I could never wear them. Most gamers are huge people.
I would like to thank Microsoft and all the partners for making this event a possibility and I appreciate all effort done to bring us exclusive stuff but to the smart gamer, some of the stuff shown were already made public on a couple of gaming sites.
I wish in the next event, we could accommodate more people because I couldn’t bring in friends and that’s a pity.
In this day and age, the era of fanboys are slowly diminishing (although they still exist). Most gamers now own at least 2 gaming platforms (either a PC, PS2, PSP, PS3, Xbox, Xbox360, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS or any other gaming handheld) and the hardcore gamers tend to make numerous considerations about a game to make their money’s worth. For example, why play a game on PS3 when you can play the same game on Xbox360 and get achievement points at the same time? Or why play on consoles if I can access a similar game on PSP and enjoy it while I’m travelling and I can show off to my friends anywhere anytime?
I also wish in the next event for more hands on. Watching a person playing is one thing, but it is more satisfying to play it ourselves. Never mind if it’s an alpha build. Maybe in this event, there was limited time and it serves the crowd better to have the speaker playing and narrating at the same time. Perhaps next time, we could arrange for an appointment at Microsoft or any of the partners’ offices for a hands-on session.
Whatever it will be, I can’t wait for the next one.
Whoa I think they need to open up more spaces man. Don’t blog much though but did have a few games reviews that I felt qualified to do in my blog.
