I have been staying at Woodlands, a nothern district in Singapore, for almost 3 years and I have only recently discovered a Halal-certified seafood restaurant located within a park enjoined by a long jetty, surrounded by breezy winds and a calming water view. If you’re driving or getting there by cab, make your way to Woodlands Waterfront Park, located at 6A Admiralty Road West, postal code 757445. If you’re taking public bus, get on board service number 856 from Yishun or Woodlands bus interchange.
Enjoy a nice walk along a fenced pier (no worries about small children running about) until you reach a longhouse located at an intersection where the walkway turns right. Welcome to ‘Rasa Istimewa Waterfront Restaurant’.
The longhouse has an open window concept that allows the strong winds from the waters to ventilate the place. Don’t worry about rain. The windows can be closed.
The longhouse can accomodate about 100 people in my estimation and patrons can choose to make a reservation in advance. The interior is quite wide and the staff mentioned that there shouldn’t be any problem for wheelchair access. Do inform the needs of your guests to the staff attending to you. They try to accommodate as best as they can.
I have not tried the food at the place but my mum was impressed with the takeaway chilli crab. The crabs are weighed at $48/kg and the two crabs I picked costs $66.34 including GST. Expensive? Yes. Lip-smacking delicious? Hell yeah!
Here’s a photo of their namecard if you need some contact details.
