It used to be that you can effectively consolidate all your contents from multiple consoles to one console once every twelve months. Why would people have made purchases on multiple consoles? This is probably due to the high hardware failure rate of the first generation Xbox360 which had Microsoft extending the warranty to three years. However, this phase had passed. Before the introduction of Xbox360 S, there were rarely new console SKUs so most people would only get a new console if they’re looking to upgrade the hard drive space. So when the License Transfer Limitation was only allowed once every twelve months, most people were okay about it.
But things have changed. It seems like more versions of themed consoles are being doled out now, to cater to various audiences and avid collectors. If you’re the type who likes to change to a new console look every now and then, you would very much welcome the shortened restriction of the License Transfer. Now you can transfer your your content to a new console every four months! So for example, after owning the cool Gears of War 3 console, you might now be anticipating for the Modern Warfare 3 console (if it’s going to be available in this region) or for the currently-delayed Star Wars console that might be released sometime next year.
Bottom line, you’re now less restrained to switch to a new console! Yay!
