The first person in the queue endured for as long as 29 hours, and those who joined in after that survived a long wait in anticipation of the big launch. The queue swelled greatly after Monday afternoon, presumably joined by students after school and those getting off their offices from a Monday Blues day. One thing for certain – these people wanted to be a part of a special privilege – to play Gears of War 3 ahead of the 20 September launch – before it’s even launched in the western region such as the USA.
Just before the countdown, we had a special video message from Cliff Bleszinski for the crowd at Funan DigitaLife Mall (yes, he did mention ‘launch event at Funan’) which got the crowd amped the moment he said “Remember, it’s Brothers to the End”.
The first person walked away with an Epic Edition (on top on his own preorder) which is not available for sale here. For everyone else, there’s the Gears of War 3 Survivor Kit (more on that later), a chance at a lucky draw and a photo-opportunity with ‘Marcus Fenix’ and the Gears of War babes.
It was indeed a historic night for a epic conclusion to a trilogy!
I also captured two videos on the launch:
