I was fortunate. In my three-year employment at PlayWorks, a long-time running advertising and promotions company for videogames, I was given the opportunity to learn many facets of its roles and functions. There were a couple of valuable lessons and experiences that I would never have been able to gain from working in another organisation. And for that, I am thankful.
Alas, today marks my last day at the company. They say "once a gamer, always a gamer" and that is true. I will still be playing games as a hobby and I will be contributing my knowledge on an adhoc basis, and whenever I can.
I will be going back to legal industry, a sector in which I served straight after National Service for about 7 years. I made the decision to return to it for various reasons and after much contemplation. As I transit into a new but familiar environment, it would still take a while to readjust to certain things (like a quiet office, wearing tucked in long sleeves, being meticulous and catching up on changed procedures) but it’s something that I have to work on.
I hope to maintain this blog as often as I could (incidentally, this month marked its fourth anniversary) as I’ve put so much effort into it.
