Everyday, for 5 days a week, as I head down to my workplace from Bugis MRT, I would inevitably pass by the intersection between Fu Lu Shou Complex and Albert Centre. Since about two weeks ago, in the spirit of the Lunar New Year, there is now a God of Fortune statue surrounded by twelve firecrackers, each bearing the forecast of the year for each Chinese Zodiac animal.
What intrigues me is this huge God of Fortune statue seems to be facing a different direction everyday. One day, he could be watching Fu Lu Shou Complex and on another day, he set his sights on Albert Centre Food Centre. It doesn’t look like the display is meant to rotate because I noted that the Firecracker bearing my Zodiac animal (Dragon) remains at the same location when I took the time to read its forecast.
Maybe there’s something else I didn’t know about the whole display. Anyway, if you’re around the area, check out the forecast for the year ahead based on your Chinese Zodiac animal.
