Then it was time for a one-to-one interview session with Luis Gigliotti, Director Design of THQ Australia.
There were a long list of media lined up for this, namely:
From Hong Kong
Hitech Weekly, Game Wave, Gxone, Game Station, South China Morning Post,
Video Land, Famitsu Weekly, Xbox Life, Xbox Club,
Game On-Mio TV, Game Axis, XboxNizam (my blog)
Velocity Media and StarIn. Tech
The interview started aroud 3pm, and by the time it came to my turn, it was past 7pm. Interviewing people is not something I do everyday or part of my daily work, so naturally I felt the wait was draining. I passed the time by keeping myself occupied with the Darksiders demo, but after a couple of freeflow coke and finger food, I became too full to do anything. Fortunately, I was able to get a quick 5min nap on the couch.
When I entered the interview room, I’m surprised to see Luis fresh as ever. I’m sure he’s tired but he’s not showing it. Maybe he was used to it. Before I entered, I promised Yifen from Replay Interactive (Singapore) that I’ll keep mine short. So here’s what I asked and my paraphrase of his answer. Being the greenhorn that I am, I wasn’t equipped with a recorder.
Q: What is the one thing you are proud of with Darksiders?
A: Luis said that about his aim to evolve the Action Adventure genre, the continuous graphic quality of cutscenes and gameplay, tight controls and robust experience, something that gives you bang for buck.
Q: Are there any other projects that you’re working on besides Darksiders? and when can we experience your next work.
A: Luis said, without revealing anything that is unannounced, he said that he is working on something and we can experience his next work sometime in 2010.
Q: Given your many stints in various studios from Neverhood to Rockstar Games and now at THQ, what is the one dream game that you want to put together one day?
A: Luis said that, in a nutshell, something that screams innovation and evolution with the components and features of Xbox LIVE.
Well, that’s it. I was done in less than 5 mins. If you want to hear more about and from him, be sure to look out for releases from the other media channels mentioned above.
Here’s wishing Luis continued success!
