So I sacrificed some sleep a few hours ago to catch Michael Jackson’s memorial service with my mum. We thought it would cover the burial proceedings, but unfortunately it did not. My mum was disappointed. Maybe to her and to some fans, watching someone getting cremated or buried provides a closure to the whole episode.
Nevertheless, it was an almost-complete celebration and reminder of the achievements of the King of Pop, now known as the Greatest Entertainer alive. This is the man who broke down the colour curtain and paved the way for many non-whites to prosper in various scenes and industry. This is the man who was recognised by the Guinness World Book of Records as the superstar who supported the most causes for charity. This is the man who never stopped giving.
I can’t wait to own his complete music collection. This is one icon who should and will always be remembered for a long time.
