Halo Wars scores high marks from various editorial sites, as high as 9.5/10. On average, the other scores are between 8.0 to 9.0, with a few sites listing 7.5 and below. Gamespot made headlines with their score of 6.5/10 but if you check out their video review they are generally impressed at the game, except that they chose to highlight more on the game’s shortcomings.
My personal experience is the Halo Wards demo, while giving a decent introduction to the gameplay mechanics, was not engaging enough to create ripples of interest. Many who tried the demo were still sceptical of the RTS concept on consoles, due to less impressive past releases. I’m glad that the full build has proved that RTS can work out on consoles, and Halo fans should never think twice about getting this title.
If you’re still unconvinced, check out a couple of video and text reviews online.
